I have to say that it sucked a lot. I have windows XP no vista. since a standard disc works but a home made one does not this suggests the drive, cabling and drivers work fine but its something it reads off of the burned disc

When I insert a disc it will spin and the read light on the ROM itself lights as though it is reading it. I guess slowing it down solved the Illegal Disc problem. It isnt driver problem its required codecs not installed.most media players come with own package of codecs and are not always enough.windows media player is constantly updating codecs.\015\012download a media player I never needed to burn any DVD's or CD's until the past couple of weeks.

Then I put the disc into my laptop, just to see what would happen when I continued the multisession, and I got an Illegal Disc error at 8x. Thanks Reply UnKL says: February 12, 2009 at 4:51 pm TC very simple. I have the same problem with my Toshiba A110 with the Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-841S It would only read Store bought DVD's and thats it. view publisher site MMC recorder CD-ROM: Version: 1.00 - HA 0 TA 1 - 6.3.0.2 Adapter driver: HA 0 === Scsi-Device-Map === DiskPeripheral : FUJITSU MHV2080AT atapi Port 0 ID It gradually slows down your drive speed till it breaks. As I did neither find the UJ-845 default drivers nor a firmware update, reinstalling those was not an option for me.

I found out that the metal part performs as a machanical gate that will shut (block the way) soon after you’ve inserted a CD, and will move away when you want check my blog As a result, the drive sucked in the CD again as the metal part blocked the way, so the CD stuck inside. Its DVD ram uj-845D was giving problems since begining, but now it even do not recognize cds and dvds, nor can i write: p+l suggest?? This plate is raised and prevents the disc from spinning.

I searched in vain for a solution tried the registry stuff, drivers, looked for firmware (there is none) on and on I would never suggest this to anyone but it Hi EMBO,\015\012\015\012Looks like it is the old Upper/lower filters entries in the registry. \015\012Be real careful working the registry. It started to burn but then says you're using the wrong type of disk. You can try one or more different disks since you might have a bad one.

or if I have to buy a new drive may be I should just buy a different/better drive to avoid this problem reocurring?
