I emailed both sony, ritek, and newegg(from where i purchased) to see if something could be done about this. Only writes CDs (but reads anything you can possibly feed it). When I try burning the discs I get a power calibration error on all discs.

I thought it might be media so I tried to burn a copy of a music cd, using blanks (fuji) that have worked many times before.
